Grey Ghost Weimaraner Rescue was established in November 2016 in Monument, Colorado to help weimaraners and their owners.  Our mission as a 501(c)(3) volunteer powered organization is to be dedicated to the health and well being of all weimaraners through education, innovation and rehoming.  We believe there is no place like home, and every weimaraner deserves a home where they are cherished members of the family.  Our weimaraners are cared for in residential foster homes, and when necessary, partnering licensed boarding facilities.

Bryan Grace, President

My name is Bryan and I discovered Weimaraners when I was a young student in college. I didn’t know much about them other than they were known to be wild and crazy and required lots of exercise, and of course beautiful dogs. Rome was my first Weim and that’s where I fell in love with their quirky personalities and abundant energy.  Fast forward many years later, my wife Cindy and I have been ruled by the Grey Ghosts. They keep us on our toes and ensure we hike 7 days a week.  When I am not hiking Grace and Johnny Utah with Cindy, I enjoy skiing and Cycling, and spending my free time with my better half; Cindy, and our Greys; Grace and Johnny Utah.  The Weimaraner is a very special dog with specific needs and we are excited to give back to this exquisite breed by being part of the Grey Ghost Rescue.

Cindy Grace, Vice President

January 1, 2024

Cindy has been involved with the Weim World for well over 16 years. She has fostered, rescued, and adopted GSP and Weims in the last decade and a half of her life. Cindy loves all animals, big and small & has been known to rescue a horse running down a road (in her flight attendant uniform). Where there is an animal in distress, Cindy will find it, or the animal will find her.

She was first introduced to the Grey Ghosts when she met her husband, Bryan. He had the most obedient Weimaraner she had ever met (& probably will ever meet). She fell in love with the breed and their sporadic high energy, quirkiness, & loyalty.

Her last Weim she adopted when he was only 8 months old and he passed before his 12th birthday. She vowed she would never have another animal because the loss was too much, but here she is today … with two Weimaraners ; Grace & Johnny Utah. She lives in the mountains of Boulder, Colorado with her husband & their two fur children. She would love to have two more …

When Cindy isn’t busy hiking everyday with her Greys, she is flying the friendly skies. Her passion is the welfare of all animals & will continue to contribute her time, energy, & resources to giving them a better life. Just as the Weimaraners give the best & most energetic vibe to our families, we want to make life just that much better for them & finding the right fit. We could all use a little more Grey in our lives.

Jim Jensen, Treasurer

Hi all.  My name is Jim Jensen and I live in Fort Collins with my wife Teresa, as empty nesters.  I was first introduced to the weimaraner breed in the early 1990s when a friend of mine had one.  In 2006, my little family of five grew a bit bigger when we adopted our weimy, Chance.  He was the absolute best, instilling a love of the breed, and animals in general, with every member of my family.  We watched him grow from an inquisitive puppy to a rambunctious teen, to a vigilant adult, and finally into a mellow senior.  We lost him December 2019 but not before he met Freya, a blue weimy that our oldest daughter adopted with her husband.  Soon after Chance's passing, Kilo, a grey weimy joined his sister (different litters but the same parents), making them our first grandpups.  Since then my other two adult children have adopted a mix breed (chow, anatolian shepherd, and lab) canine named Ace, and a wonderful cat named Yazzy.  My wife and I have decided to hold off on adopting until we are closer to retirement, meaning we have to spoil these grandpups and grandcat as much as possible.  Wanting to stay tied to the weimy community, I found the opportunity to volunteer with GGWR too compelling to pass up.

I am an Army brat and an Air Force retiree.  I have been in Colorado Springs since 1998.  I love all animals big and small to include fish. When I was a kid living in England, I recall saving up money for gerbils, volunteering to take care of a variety of animals over the summer break from school.    I was very fortunate to have parents who loved animals too.

Floyd my first Weimaraner brought me to the world of rescue.  Although he was not a rescue, he inspired my love of the breed and so of course I looked for all ways possible to help Weims.   Floyd lived to the lovely age of 15 and brought me the most joy ever.

I currently have all rescues – Mocha a weim/silver lab, 2 cats, and 3 parakeets.

I have been a part of the rescue world since 2010 and a founding member of Grey Ghost Weimaraner Rescue.   I work with a great team of volunteers and mentors who educate and impress me with their love of animals.   I have met so many wonderful people and discovered the world of transport.   It is unbelievable how selfless people are, they volunteer and do transport and give their hearts to rescue animals.  I will forever be grateful for all that we accomplish.

Jenny Piazza, Member at Large

Hello! I am Jenny Piazza. I was brought to the weimaraner breed 11 years ago when a student teacher I was supervising needed to find a home for two weim puppies he had at his house. We adopted Scratch and Vogue who immediately stole our hearts. The more we learned about this breed while raising these two girls, the more we fell in love with weimaraners. In 2013, I found myself an empty nester. I contacted a few weimaraner rescues and donated or volunteered. In 2014-16, I fostered around 13 weimaraners in need. With each foster situation, I learned more and more about this wonderful breed.

Like many of our members, I have been drawn to animals all my life. By the time I was 10, I was advocating for animal treatment. I worked for a veterinarian in my 20's while teaching middle school science in inner city Oklahoma City. My friends and family know me as the woman with dogs. I come by rescue work naturally and thank the members of Grey Ghost Weimaraner Rescue for all they have taught me throughout my work with them.

I currently own three weimaraners. Scratch, 11 years, Khaleesi, 4 years, and Mr. Robert Bojangles, a 6 year old rescue I adopted in 2016. I am excited to foster each new pup I receive. Each one has taught me something about the breed

I am a Veterinarian and boarded Veterinary Pathologist who has lived in Northern Colorado for over 25 years. I did General Practice for 5 years before becoming a pathologist. I worked in academia and diagnostic laboratories for over 20 years including University of IL- Champaign/Urbana and CSU (Colorado State University). More recently I have shifted career focus to work in the Pharmaceutical industry and new drug development.

As a veterinarian, I have loved animals of all types for most of my life. Weims have been part of that love since a teenager when I chose a Weimaraner as my first pet. Since then Weims +/- other dogs have been integral parts of my life, whether as a comfort companion, running partner or partner on my farm. All my Weims (and other dogs) after the first have been adopted rescue dogs. Each one was unique and has precious unique memories that I cherish. My current Weim-mix is precious, goofy and my family. He was adopted through Grey Ghost Weimaraner Rescue who I have been involved with for several years. I am always impressed by the group’s mission, passion, and results.
